The Little Prince (2015)

Directed by: Mark Osborne

Last year’s winter season might be cold for others, but definitely not for the fans of Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s The Little Prince. The latest movie adaptation was released late last year; As for the Philippines, it was last December 2, 2015.

The animated film started off with the story of a little girl (voiced by Mackenzie Foy) on her way to a new university to be a successful grown up.

After moving to their new house near the university, her life is being carefully planned and scheduled by her mother who seems to be so focused with her being a successful grown up.

In the middle of her tight schedule she meets an eerie neighbor who calls himself “The Aviator”(Jeff Bridges) who introduces her to the story of The Little Prince.

Readers of The Little Prince will surely enjoy this film because this adaptation strictly follows the plot on the book. However, the film presented a twist merged with modern symbolism.

Artfully touched with a family-oriented story suited for general patronage. The Little Prince’s approach to those who haven’t read the book yet will surely spark a light of interest to the author Antoine de Saint-Exupery and how he came up with the book.  One of the famous lines in the book “What is essential, is invisible to the naked eye” has been well delivered and was manifested through-out the film.

Director Mark Osborne’s adaptation of THE LITTLE PRINCE will surely pluck heartstrings from everyone with its in-depth symbolism and relevant message, safe to say one of the must-watch films with your family.

It presents a modern approach on how one must be taught and guided in “growing up”. This masterpiece from Osborne will surely impact its viewers socially and can definitely change one’s perspective.

I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
