SUMMARY

4.2HOTDIE BEAUTIFUL (2016) springs from a coming-of-age story of a transsexual, Trixie, and continues on to her journey in finding and fighting for herself and her identity. This one comes with strong performances, especially from its supporting cast, and a surprising design that adds color to Trixie's world. Worthy to mention are the performances by Christian Bables, Joel Torre and Gladys Reyes. Bables is a natural as Trixie's best friend Barbs. She is that character that foils its way through staggering narrative, and still manages to hit the note with soul and characterization. On the other hand, the film feels a bit too stretched. It seems like it wants to tell everything, that at some point, you'd fall into the its narrative trap. Paolo Ballesteros plays Trixie with the needed color, yet a mild characterization.
