MANILA, Philippines – Following a successful run in May, Theatre Titas is excited to announce the return of Juan Ekis' Palanca-winning one-act play, TWENTY QUESTIONS, for a limited two-weekend run this November.
This award-winning one-act play which won the Palanca in 2003, revolves around college friends Jigs and Yumi, who find themselves confined to a hotel room for 24 hours as part of an annual barkada tradition. To while away the time, they engage in a game of twenty questions, leading to candid discussions about their perspectives on love, life, and sex.
Having had numerous stagings over the past two decades, this staging of TWENTY QUESTIONS is made to appeal to the younger generation, with the aim of drawing new audiences to the theater. In celebration of its 20th anniversary, director Cheese Mendez provides a contemporary twist to the material. This fresh interpretation explores how relationships developed two decades ago resonate with today's youth and with their more modern perspectives.
“TWENTY QUESTIONS obviously now has a life of its own. Sometimes, when I watch the show, I ask myself, 'Did I really write this?' And it being sold out during the last run shows how it is still relevant to today’s youth. In an era when falling in love has become a myth, we still need plays that remind us it is real. I thank Cheese and the Titas for telling this story again in a way that resonates with today’s generation.” Juan Ekis writes.
Twenty Questions stars Diego Aranda (Quest for the Adarna, Joseph the Dreamer, Figaro! Figaro!!) as Jigs, and Isabelle Prado as Yumi.
The 20th Anniversary production of Juan Ekis’ Twenty Questions runs 8pm on weekends from November 10 - 19, 2023, with matinées on Sundays at Mirror Studio Theatre in Brgy Poblacion, Makati.
Twenty Questions is in partnership with Three Hens Wine, ViARE, and Atomm Studios. Tickets can be purchased for P600 each at Ticket2Me.com.
